U of M Microsoft Campus Agreement Software Program for Students

The University of Minnesota has paid for one Microsoft Office and one Windows license per student. Students must be currently enrolled at the U of M in at least one credit course. All software orders must be placed through the Microsoft student online order form, which verifies student enrollment and automatically charges your U of M student account. Students that select the media option pay for the cost of the CD set, which is less than $8. Software cannot be returned if it has been opened.

ONLINE STUDENTS: The online order form assumes you will pick up the CD's for Office or Windows on your campus. If you are an online student please fill out the order form, then follow this link for shipping instructions.

Microsoft Office - Currently enrolled students are eligible for one Office product through this program. Exceptions will apply once a new version of the software becomes available. See details below.

office 2007 enterprise

Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 expected end of April/beginning of May 2007.

Because the U of M has paid for one license per student, students are eligible for only one Office software product through this program. However, students that have ordered an older version of Office in the past will be able to order the new Office Enterprise 2007 if:

    • the order for an older version of Office for a Windows operating system (e.g. Office 2003) was placed before the new version of Office 2007 became available, and
    • the student is still currently enrolled in at least one credit at the U of M at the time they place an online order.

Office Enterprise 2007 includes Word 2007, Excel 2007, Publisher 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Access 2007, Outlook 2007, OneNote 2007, Groove 2007, Communicator 2007 and InfoPath 2007. Computers must run Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2 or newer operating system. Additional Microsoft computer requirements.

The Office 2007 Enterprise software will be added to the online order form, once the media is received at UCS.

Microsoft Windows operating system upgrade - The desktop operating system licenses granted under the Campus Agreement program are for the upgrade license and media only. Full desktop operating system licenses are not available under this program. Therefore, you must have a full, legal version of Windows installed on your computer before installing an upgrade version through this program. Currently enrolled students are eligible for one Office product through this program. Exceptions will apply once a new version of the software becomes available. See details below.

Windows Vista Microsoft Windows Vista - Because the U of M has paid for one license per student, students are eligible for only one Windows operating system software product through this program. However, students that have ordered an older version of Windows OS in the past will be able to order the new Windows Vista if:
    • the order for an older version of the software (e.g. Windows XP Pro) was placed before the new version of Vista became available, and
    • the student is still currently enrolled in at least one credit at the U of M at the time they place an online order.
Will my computer run Vista? The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor will help you to determine if your Windows XP-based PC can run Windows Vista.

    Microsoft computer requirements
    - 1GHz processor, 1 GB memory, a graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable

There will be two versions of Microsoft Windows Vista upgrade software available to students. The U of M has paid for one Microsoft Windows upgrade operating system license per enrolled student, therefore, students are eligible for only one version of Vista. Students cannot purchase both Vista Business AND Ultimate through this program.

      • Vista Business upgrade media is expected end of April/beginning of May. Students will receive an email and be able to place an online order at the time of release through the Microsoft student online order form, which verifies enrollment status.
      • Vista Ultimate upgrade media is anticipated in June. Students who purchased Vista Business cannot purchase Ultimate. Students must be enrolled in either a summer session or Fall 2007 semester at the time Ultimate media is released (June) to be eligible to place an order for the Ultimate. Student enrollment and eligibility is checked when the online order is placed, therefore, students will not be able to preorder the software. The new software will be added to the online order form once the media is received at UCS.

The Vista software will be added to the online order form, once the media is received at UCS.
